对全世界来说，京奥开幕式用典型的张艺谋手法做到了“给中国一个机会，还世界一个惊喜”的申办诉求，只是这“惊喜”有点过于沉重，是一百年的圆梦压力，也是举世瞩目的国家形象之战。以至于林行止先生在香港《信报》的专栏中写下了“长达三个半小时的开幕仪式将有令人叹为观止的‘文艺表演’，中国用她高度的动员力量，兼且可以不计经济效益，因此特别宏伟、壮观，以至让那些以为大国便是如此崛起的中国人兴奋得感动落泪。”
在所有赞美、讴歌、称颂的大合奏中，人们已经习惯性把中国自2008年以来的苦难归总分类，寓意着承受了百年前巨大耻辱的中国，在最短的时间里脱胎换骨，并融入世界大家庭。海外舆论无不把京奥的盛大举办看成是中国的“成人礼”，通过这场典礼，古老又年轻的中华民族稳固了崛起的脚步。

从顾拜旦的“生命的关键在于干得出色而不在于征服”，到习近平副主席的“平常心论”，用集体心理治疗的神圣仪式解开缠绕心中的那片阴霾，需要的就是无数人的点滴努力。金正日同志需要借助阿里郎来帮朝鲜人民“昂首挺胸”，毛泽东也曾以东方红体现无产阶级革命的“朝气蓬勃”，唯独京奥已不再需要意识形态和威权政治的装点。
